ACCURO EMR PASSES 2006 ALBERTA VENDOR CONFORMANCE USABILITY REQUIREMENTS
April 24, 2006 (QHR – TSX Venture Exchange) Mr. Al Hildebrandt, President and CEO of the Company, is pleased to announce that its wholly owned subsidiary Optimed Software Corporation (“Optimed”) was one of eight vendors to pass the stringent 2006 Alberta Vendor Conformance Usability Requirements (“VCUR”) for electronic medical records (“EMR”) technologies. Optimed develops and distributes a state-of-the-art EMR technology known as Accuro EMR.
VCUR evaluates EMR products that vendors distribute to physicians in the Province of Alberta. The key criteria examined include system functionality, privacy and security of data records. Conformance with VCUR standards allows doctors to apply and receive 48 months of government funding to purchase EMR products such as Accuro.
Creating Version 3.0 (scheduled to be released in early May 2006) of Accuro EMR was driven by the success and adoption of the Company’s EMR technologies by medical specialists in Western Canada. Approximately 200 medical professionals in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan enjoy the power and convenience that Accuro-EMR offers.
Unique to the market is that medical specialists treat a large number of patients for specific medical conditions while the family/primary care physician also known as the general practitioner (“GP”) attends to a lower volume of patients more frequently for a broader range of medical needs. These are two different environments for EMR applications design Optimed has been successful in developing Accuro EMR to address both requirements.
While there are similarities in administrative functions, Optimed has diligently focused Version 3.0 on the specific requirements of the GP. Although the roots of Accuro-EMR are in medical specialist applications, the GP will now equally benefit from the streamlined workflow and powerful functionality that improves the effectiveness and efficiency of patient care and clinic administration.
Accuro EMR applications support billings, patient scheduling, EMR, messaging and reporting through a unique integrated database. Version 3.0 will add chronic disease management focus, complete Web enablement, Mac/Apple compatibility, transcription free correspondence creation and improved workflow management.
